Sara Duterte: DILG to Investigate Davao City Mayor's Sheriff Punching Incident

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who was caught by camera punching court sheriff Abe Andres on Friday, July 1, 2011, is facing a possible suspension or dismissal from public service because of the incident.

The incident happened when Sheriff Andres still pursue the execution of house demolition in Davao despite Mayor Duterte's requests to have it delayed in a bit while she gets her poor constituents out of the site, calmly.

Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo said in an interview with ABS-CBN's ANC channel that the Mayor's unbecoming actions against the sheriff may be penalized with a simple reprimand to dismissal from service. He added that it is up to the sheriff if he will pursue the case against Duterte.

Robredo also said that the DILG now investigates the incident.

Mary Christine Jolly and Derek Ramsay's Marriage Valid; Angelica Panganiban Fights for Derek

Despite Derek Ramsay's alleged threat to leave the Kapamilya network should the TV station pursue to release its shocking discovery about his previous marriage with an Indian-Filipina model, TV Patrol bravely featured the news in last night's newscast and even compelled Derek and current girlfriend Angelica Panganiban to personally admit the rumor.

Based on the copy of marriage contract secured by ABS-CBN News from the National Statistics Office, "Derek Arthur Ramsay" and "Mary Christine Jolly", then 21-year-old and a Las Pinas born Indian-Filipina model, got married on April 3, 2002 at 3 p.m. in a ceremony officiated by then Balagtas Mayor Reinaldo Castro at his office in Balagtas, Bulacan.




According to Atty. Jean Ferry, a family legal expert, Derek's marriage with Mary Christine can be considered legal up to this time.

“If the certificate of marriage has no annotation that is required, then on its face, the marriage is still subsisting and still valid...To other persons, he is still married,” the lawyer said.

In the same featured interview, Derek said he has left the matter to his lawyers.

“My lawyers are taking care of the various legal options that we have and handle the issue. It’s being taken care of as we speak,” he said.

“This is a very personal matter which I'll share with everyone and have to face in the coming months.... For me, just like all the other intrigues that happen every month, I'll focus on work, and for those who have given support, I want to say thank you and to let you know that she (Angelica) stands by me and our relationship is very strong,” Derek added.

To give his support and to prove that she still cares for him no matter what, the calm and relaxed Angelica joined Derek during the interview.




“Siyempre, gusto naming harapin na masaya, ‘di ba? So tina-try namin ang best namin na labanan ito, na okay kami,” Angelica said.

Davao Flash Flood Kills 29, Leaves 12,714 Families Homeless

The death toll from flash floods that hit Davao City following heavy rains last Tuesday rose to 29 as of Thursday evening, a military official said.
The last to be recovered was the body of four-year-old Cherry Saturos, while two persons — three-month-old Mark Louie Falomar and 34-year-old Zaldy Supa - have yet to be found as of 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Maj. Jacob Thaddeus Obligado, commander of the 10th Civil Military Operations battalion.

In its 6 p.m. update, The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said 12,714 families were affected in Talomo Proper, Matina Crossing, Matina, Pangi and Matina Aplaya villages.

It said that as of Thursday, the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided family food packs to the affected families.

Also, the DSWD conducted critical incident stress debriefing and deployed social workers to the evacuation centers and funeral parlors.

"According to the affected residents, it was the first time they experienced floodwaters that is more or less 10 feet deep. The floodwaters subsided at 5:00 AM 29 June 2011," the NDRRMC said.
